Stay in Your Lane

‘Stay in your lane. You don’t need anything from anyone else, try to be self-contained in your practice.’ Whaaat?  What does this mean?   I was sharing this concept with some of my Yoga students recently.  Being aware of “Now” alerts us to the reality that we have everything we need in this moment.  There is no need to fret about our limited physical flexibility–it will come with practice.  There is no benefit in being self-critical or even competitive with the student in front of you who may jump back from a standing forward bend directly into chaturanga with little effort.  Do you question your motives for showing up...

Today I Am..

The affirmation I was given goes like this, “Today I accept love just as I am. Today I accept myself just as I am. Today I thank God for making me just as I am. Today I accept life just as it is. Today I am peace, joy and love as I am.” This affirmation was just a reminder of how much I love my wonderful life.  Even the bumps, knocks, highs-lows and disappointments.  Witnessing the growing pains of my children. The ebb and flow within relationships. The recognition that your career may change and that you are flexible enough to meet that change. The ability to recognize and take responsibility for...

Calm Before the Storm

Recently, I was flying home to Florida as a tropical storm was approaching the coast. The turbulence we felt  in the aircraft during the descent made me more alert and mindful of the “now.”  I was calm and my meditative mind kicked in like second nature. The cloud cover, though dense and heavy with moisture let the pilot, aircraft, and me know that our passage was going to be as should be. An article I read by Eknath Easwaran, reminded me that, …”Yoga scriptures tell us we suffer because we are divided against ourselves.”  We are often struggle with the physical world and what is beyond–as though they...

Saturday Practice

Rise and shine! Six a.m. and its a groggy start.  I roll out of bed and start The Five Tibetan Rites (checkout the video) and just breathed in the moment.   I think how wonderful the human form is.  So forgiving, strong and yet sensitive.  Today is about balance and strength.   Balance to help support not only the physical demands of our day, but the emotional challenges we  encounter with others.  Strength to counter forceful urges to react negatively, and to seek  the  path  less traveled to find Self.  This is a good day to take time for yourself.  Reflect and recharge.  Namaste....

Inspiration

Hello World! I am Dr. Inge Ford, aka YaYa Yogini. Welcome to my blog, where I intend to share and gain inspiration, vision, and spiritual balance in my journey as a Yogini. I’m in a wonderful time in my life. I’ve successfully raised four children, have a fulfilling career, and am now seeking new adventures around the globe with old and new friends. Yoga has been a grounding force for me, and I’m eager to share my explorations with others. The goal of Yoga is to experience “your truth”. My main style of practice is Integral Yoga–meditation (Raja), breath work (pranayama) and asana/postures (Hatha).  Inner radiance can and...
